A Population-focused Respiratory Service Framework
The Respiratory Service Framework (Part 1) has been developed by PCRS-UK to raise the profile of respiratory care for commissioners who are keen to improve care, but who do not know where to start. It was designed to demonstrate the ideal components of a respiratory service aimed at a set population of patients. Daryl Freeman, the PCRS-UK East of England lead, has been closely involved in the development of the recently published NHS RightCare pathway, which includes the Community COPD Framework. Here she introduces the background to the development of the Respiratory Service Framework (Part 2), states the purpose it serves and highlights how it can be used to develop patient-related outcomes.
